Two southern artists are releasing greatest hits packages on April 7, but in different formats: Georgia's Daddy A Go Go goes the traditional CD route, while Arkansas' Trout Fishing In America combine a disc of their best songs with a picture book version of their tune "My Name is Chicken Joe."
Come On, Get Happy! The Best of Daddy A Go Go, Volume 1 compiles some of John Boydston's most rockin' Daddy A Go Go music from the six albums that span his ten-year kids' music career. Hopefully Volume 2 is in the works, 'cause it's crazy not to include on this first volume the tunes "Rock of Ages" and "Idaho!" from 2008's Rock of All Ages, or Daddy A Go Go's best song ever, "For Those About to Walk (We Salute You)," from the 2006 CD Eat Every Bean and Pea on Your Plate.
Also on April 7, Trout Fishing In America will release My Name is Chicken Joe: Songs by Trout Fishing In America, a book/CD combo illustrated by Stéphane Jorisch and published by The Secret Mountain. This solid "best of" collection covers the group's nine albums for kids over their 30-year career, and comes with a picture book that features their song "My Name is Chicken Joe." The duo have recorded two live albums that included some of The Trouts' most popular tunes, but My Name is Chicken Joe will be their first true greatest hits CD.
