Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas Already Making Their Musical Mark

Thursday October 8, 2009

Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas, youngest siblings of ridiculously popular tween music sensations Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers, respectively, are making their musical mark with the tune "Ponyo" from Disney Pictures' release of Ponyo, an animated film by Hayao Miyazaki loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's story, 'The Little Mermaid."

"Gake no Ue no Ponyo" was originally a collaboration single between famous folk comic duo Fujioka Fujimaki and then eight-year-old Nozomi Ohashi in 2007. The title track was used as the theme song for Studio Ghibli's movie, Gake no Ue no Ponyo, known simply as Ponyo for the Disney release. The original song features lyrics written by legendary director Hayao Miyazaki and music by famous composer Joe Hisaishi.

If you like preteen rapping and excessive use of Auto-Tune, you'll love the Cyrus and Jonas remake of "Ponyo." If cutesy, orchestrated pop tunes are your thing, stick with Nozomi Ohashi and Fujioka Fujimaki's original version.
