A convicted murderer performing songs for a bunch of kids? Huddie Ledbetter's life was certainly one of both remarkable fact and fascinating legend. When it came down to it, though, his rapport with children as a performer was tender-hearted and easy-going, as evidenced by Lead Belly Sings for Children.
Better known to the musical world as 12-string blues guitarist Lead Belly, Ledbetter played a wide variety of songs for his young audiences. His best in-studio cuts and live performances for kids were collected on Lead Belly Sings for Children, a sort of catch-all CD that culls tunes from several Folkways albums.

This is hands down one of the best children’s albums of all time and one of my very favorites.
Nobody sings and plays like Leadbelly nowadays! Kids & families need to hear this legend because of that fact alone, not to mention the album being pretty entertaining.
