Fans have been waiting a long time for this one! On October 5, four years after her major label debut You Are My Little Bird, kids' music critical darling Elizabeth Mitchell will release Sunny Day, an album full of traditional tunes, original songs, and tons of guest appearances.
Hudson Valley neighbor Levon Helm is slated to sing and perform on Sunny Day, along with kids' music star Dan Zanes, Jon Langford of the Mekons (and kids' music collective Wee Hairy Beasties), and the Children of Agape Choir of South Africa.
Mitchell and ensemble will be covering such tasty tunes as Chuck Berry's "School Days," Bill Withers' "Lovely Day," The Carter Family's "Keep On the Sunny Side," and avant garde musician Moondog's "Tell It Again." Sunny Day will be available October 5, 2010, on Smithsonian Folkways.
