North Carolina native David Holt joyfully promotes his love of classic Americana through I Got a Bullfrog, his first CD for kids.
The Artist
David Holt is a long-time proponent of Old Time and Bluegrass music, where banjos, mouth harps, washboards, and fiddles are the star instruments. He traveled to the Appalachian region in the late 1960s to learn more about and become proficient in old time banjo playing. This journey has led to dozens of CD and DVD releases, and has given Holt the opportunity to perform with masters of the genre, such as Bill Monroe, Grandpa Jones, Doc Watson, and Roy Acuff.
The CD
Holt released I Got a Bullfrog on the High Windy label in 1994. This collection of classic folk songs includes such mainstays as "The Cat Came Back," "Cindy," and the Carter Family staple "Keep On the Sunnyside." Holt invited guests Sam Bush, Grandpa Jones, Kathy Chiaviola, and Alan Bryant to join in the fun, and their bluegrass expertise shines through on every cut.
