They're not naked, but they are brothers. And they play a band on TV that's taken the real preteen world by storm. Check out The Naked Brothers Band Soundtrack from Nickelodeon.
The CD
The first soundtrack CD from Nickelodeon’s wildly popular show, The Naked Brothers Band, is a charmingly harmless, yet remarkably enjoyable album. Songs full of big drums, sparkling guitars, and real kid vocals cover tween subjects like family, elusive crushes, hometown pride…and banana smoothies!
The Band
Cast members, brothers Nat and Alex Wolff, David Levi, Thomas Batuello, Qaasim Middleton, and Allie DiMeco, obviously don’t play their own instruments, but who cares? These are catchy, sunny, funny, and well-produced tunes that fans of the show will play endlessly and casual listeners in the 8- to 12-year-old set will love as well. It’s good enough that parents might sneak a few listens, too!
The Songs
Even though Nat and Alex Wolff are generously credited as songwriters, it’s more than likely that the nuts and bolts of creating the tunes was carried out by dad and fellow cast member Michael Wolff, and producer Michael A. Levine. Top tracks include album opener “If That’s Not Love” and the ballads “Girl of My Dreams,” “I Indeed Can See,” and “Beautiful Eyes.”
Check out the Oasis-like rave-ups “I Could Be” and “Taxi Cab,” which, despite its slight lyrics, still rocks. The raciest any song ever gets is “Fishing for Love” where a girl is described as wearing “a t-shirt that goes up to her belly” (gasp!), and even then she’s described as a “crazy chick.” All in all, this first Naked Brothers Band CD is a solid collection of top notch kid pop songs.
