In the grownup world, music festivals generally roll around during the dog days of summer. Not so in Kindie Rock land! Kids' music festivals run pretty much all year long, from the Auditorium Shores afternoon at SXSW in March to Austin Kiddie Limits' full weekend in October. Here are some of the biggest Kids' Music Festivals arranged by month.
1. Auditorium Shores (SXSW) - March
Austin's South by Southwest Music and Media Conference has been around for almost a quarter of a century now, and they've added a FREE family music showcase to their Saturday afternoon Auditorium Shores concert.
2. PasoPalooza - April
Presented by the Paso Robles Co-op Preschool, the PasoPalooza Children's Music Festival is held annually at the Paso Robles Event Center near central California's coast.
3. Kindiefest - May
Brooklyn's annual Kindiefest is a three-day family music conference that includes a weekend-concluding Sunday afternoon concert. Some of the biggest names in the Kindie Rock world have performed at Kindiefest, including Elizabeth Mitchell, Lunch Money, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, Randy Kaplan, and Recess Monkey.
4. Jiggle Jam - May
Kansas City, Missouri, is host to Jiggle Jam, the Midwest's biggest family music festival, held annually every Memorial Day weekend. Created and executive produced by kids' music entertainer Jim Cosgrove, Jiggle Jam has been around since 2008.
5. Kindiependent - May
Kindiependent's inaugural "Share the Music" concert was held in 2010. This FREE afternoon of music brings together some of Seattle's best kids' music bands and performers. Kindiependent is a community collective whose mission is to develop and support a thriving family entertainment scene in the Pacific Northwest.
